CommuteIQ - Preparing your Dataset
Overview
CommuteIQ analyses employee postcode data and working patterns to model available commuting options and their associated impacts for each of your work locations. The tool evaluates journey feasibility across different transport modes and estimates metrics such as travel time, cost, and environmental impact.
The outputs can be used to:
- Assess current commuting patterns across a workforce
- Identify alternative transport options based on location and shift constraints
- Estimate potential changes in emissions and resource usage
- Support planning for transport-related infrastructure or internal policy changes
CommuteIQ results are dependent on the completeness and accuracy of the input dataset. Before uploading data, ensure it meets the required format and quality standards as outlined in this guide. Relevant data is typically sourced from HR systems. You will also need to provide Mobilityways with an address you wanted your CommuteIQ report to be routed to.
Data Requirements
CommuteIQ supports two data input methods. The level of detail in the output will vary depending on the dataset provided.
Full Data Upload
A full dataset enables the most detailed analysis. Required fields include:
- Employee identifier (e.g. name or unique ID)
- Email address
- Postcode
- Shift pattern or working hours
- Start time
Providing a complete dataset allows CommuteIQ to perform individual-level modelling and generate more detailed outputs. Ensure that data sharing complies with applicable data protection regulations. If required, consult internal governance or data protection teams prior to submission.
Anonymous Postcodes
As a minimum, CommuteIQ can process a dataset containing anonymised employee postcodes. This should be provided as a CSV file with no personally identifiable information.
Using anonymised data enables generation of a high-level report and mapping outputs. However, functionality will be limited compared to a full dataset, particularly for:
- Individual-level analysis
- Detailed scenario modelling
- Targeted strategy development
You are able to upload your own set of contacts into the Mobilityways Dashboard before the team works on your CommuteIQ report.
